Easy 10 minutes Japanese style Norimaki sandwich(Sandwich with Nori seaweed, 簡単10分で作れる海苔巻きサンド)
I found that the combination of Nori seaweed, bread and cream cheese is amazing.
I used soy sauce and mustard to marinate tomatoes and cucumbers. I also used plastic wraps in order to shape and carry the sandwich easily. It is very convenient to bring to schools or workplaces for lunch. You can also enjoy this easy Norimaki sandwich as a snack.
Ingredients (4 small sandwiches):
- 4 slices of bread (bigger bread is better)
- 1 big sheet {about 21cm (8.3inches) x 19cm (7.5 inches)} of *Nori
- 4 slices of ham
- 2 tablespoons of cream cheese
- 1/2 of tomato
- 1/4 of cucumber
- 1 tablespoon of soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon of mustard
*Nori is an edible seaweed. Japanese people use Nori for Sushi, Onigiri (rice ball), topping of cooked rice and so on. -> See picture A.
Here is how to make it at home. Cooking time is about 10 minutes.
- Slice tomatoes and cucumbers into small pieces as shown in a picture. Put them in a small bowl. Add soy sauce and mustard. Mix up thoroughly. Leave it for 5 minutes. -> See picture B.
- Meanwhile, put cream cheese in a small bowl and heat it in a microwave for 20 - 30 seconds. -> See picture C.
- Cut the crust off the bread for sandwiches. Cut the big sheet of *Nori into 4 sheets. Put a plastic wrap on top of a cutting board. Put the bread on top of the plastic wrap. Put the soft cream cheese on top of the bread. -> See picture D.
- Put *Nori on top of the bread. -> See picture E.
- Put a ham on top of the *Nori -> See picture F.
- Put the tomato and 2 cucumbers on top of the ham. -> See picture G.
- Fold the bread over as shown in a picture. -> See picture H.
- Fold the plastic wrap (bottom first, then right and left sides, and finally top.) -> See picture I.
- Put the sandwiches in plates.
